The Lodge & Villas
The Gavilan Lodge and Villas were designed by environmental architect ORLANDO ARMIJO MIGLIASSI, who has found a balance between renewable materials and typical construction materials to create a functional as well as an inviting space in the main building.
The lodge houses the reception area for the hotel, sharing the large central space with a stunning two-storey fireplace, which forms an unforgettable focal point. The area is inviting for guests to sit and read or chat. To the west wing of the building sits the gourmet restaurant with its five star kitchen and bar. To the east you will find the largest foreign language library in San Rafael. Over 5,000 books from all over the world can be borrowed and enjoyed by the guests of the hotel, as well as by the owners of Gavilan Wine Estates and their guests.
Large terraces give optimal views over the property, and they allow you to relax and enjoy the exceptional climate in Mendoza.
Our 10 Wine Villas were also designed by environmental architect ORLANDO ARMIJO MIGLIASSI, and continue his concept of using renewable materials for the construction, whilst incorporating all the luxurious amenities of 5-Star accommodation.
The two-storey villa structures are private for occupants, and yet spacious and open enough to feel warm and welcoming. Nestled in the middle of our old vineyard, each villa features an upstairs bedroom and en suite bathroom, with a large open terrace, and a main-level living area with a small kitchenette. On the lower terrace occupants will find a dipping pool to cool off in during warm days. There is also a typical Argentine “Asado” grill area, plus a wonderful fire-pit to keep you warm in the evenings.
THE RESTAURANT
Planned to coincide with the opening of the winery, we are turning our current tasting room into a full restaurant, which will be open to the public. During lunchtime the restaurant will serve dishes designed to offer perfect food-pairings with the wines of Gavilan. In the evening the restaurant will offer full dinner service using our own local produce.
THE LIBRARY
Our hotel guests and villa owners will have access to our unique full-scale library. The 5,000-foreign language title library features mainly English-language books, and is the largest foreign language library in San Rafael.
Guests of the hotel, as well as owners of the exclusive Wine Estates villas and their guests, have access to the library and are welcome to borrow books free of charge. A decision has not yet been made whether the library will be open to the public through a Wine Club membership.
